About Katie
Katie Macks, a native San Franciscan, thrived growing up in the cultural diversity of the City. This background inspired her to dream of seeing and experiencing the many peoples and cultures, beyond the American horizon.
Several years ago she decided to put her business career on hold in order to embark on her dream. She traveled the world for almost three years, photographing and capturing the heart and spirit of the people, and the exotic life of the destinations that she had the privilege to explore. Her heart and soul was touched by almost every encounter. Every day she was struck by the grace of human nature; beyond class, culture or society. Traveling alone with her camera and an open heart, in turn inspired people to welcome her into their villages, homes and lives, with open hearts as well. The relationships she formed crossed all barriers.
Her inspiration comes from both the diversity and commonality of the human experience. All photographs are a result of these magical and life-altering relationships. Katie's photographic intent while traveling is to capture authentic images of the people, lands and cultures she experiences and bring them home for the purpose of sharing and educating.
Through these photographs people have the opportunity to travel with her and feel the humanity portrayed in each image. It is Katie's intention to continue on this path establishing new relationships, photographing and writing.
