Uluru (Ayers Rock)
Australia, Northern Territory, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park
Uluru stands isolated at 345M (1132ft) above the surrounding and flat terrain and is 9.4km (5.8miles) around. This magnificent monolith is considered the worlds largest and is also an Aboriginal sacred site. The monolith is a gallery of Aboriginal rock carvings and art all the way around the circumference of the rock. In 1985 Uluru was returned to the Anangu people, the original landholders, and is now listed as a World Heritage Site. As the sunrises and sets, this monolith displays its beautiful deep orange and red colors.
